What will my child learn in Preschool, TK, and K?
When children enter preschool and transitional kindergarten, they are immersed into learning environments where they can develop and practice academic, social, emotional, and self-care skills with children in their age group. These early experiences are also called “foundational learning experiences.” Children who attend transitional kindergarten will not only have access to foundational learning experiences, but they will also be exposed to kindergarten learning goals. You might hear your child’s teacher call these learning goals the Common Core State Standards. When children regularly attend high-quality preschool and transitional kindergarten, they enter kindergarten with a strong foundation to master these standards.
