The Local Early Education Planning Council (LPC) is a collaborative association of
representatives from the early care and education field, including parents,
child care providers, businesses, and government. A joint committee of board
members from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and Santa Clara County
Board of Education oversees the Council.
The Council brings together parents, community members, government
representatives, and child care providers to:
- assess local child care needs
- set local priorities for use of state and federal funds
- affect public policy decisions regarding early education and before &
after school programs
If you work or live in Santa Clara County, and you are interested in
supporting and improving the early education opportunities for young children,
your participation is needed. We are looking for:
- parents with children in child care
- child care providers
- public agency representatives
- community members
2008 LPC Child Care Needs Assessment – Online Surveys
A Child Care Needs Assessment is conducted by the LPC every 5 years. The last Assessment was
completed in 2003. As such, the LPC is currently working with the Center for Education Planning,
to develop the 2008 Child Care Needs Assessment. The purpose of the Assessment is to research:
- Family and Child Demographic Trends
- Child Care Supply and Demand in Santa Clara County
- Services for Children from Special Populations
- Subsidies and Cost of Child Care
- Workforce and Education
The LPC is currently collecting public input from parents/child care consumers, child care
providers, business representatives, and government representatives on the Child Care Needs
