SANTA CLARA COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION
PERSONNEL COMMISSION VACANCY

San Jose, CA…The Personnel Commission of the Santa Clara County Office of Education is encouraging interested individuals to apply for appointment to the Office's Personnel Commission. The vacant seat will be appointed by the Santa Clara County Board of Education on October 21, 2009.

The Personnel Commission oversees a comprehensive personnel administration system for classified (non-teaching) employees of the County Office. Applicants must reside within Santa Clara County, be a registered voter, and be a known adherent to the merit system. Applicants cannot be employed by the County Office of Education or be a member of any county office or school district governing board of education.

As used in this announcement, "a known adherent to the principle of the merit system,” means a person who by the nature of his or her prior public or private service has given evidence that he or she supports the concept of employment, continuance of employment, in-service promotional opportunities, and other related matters on the basis of merit and fitness.

The Personnel Commission meets in public session on the second Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the County Office of Education, Board Room, 1290 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose. A stipend of $25.00 per meeting is provided as well as health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, and life insurance).

Interested individuals must submit a letter of interest, a resume, and a minimum of three professional references in care of:
