Jane Howard is the executive director of the Gilroy Visitors Bureau. She serves on the Joint
Committee on Child Care, the Budget Study Committee and the SCROP Operations Committee. Her school
board experience includes four years as a Gilroy Unified School District trustee, including one year
as president. Her community service positions have included: president of the Gilroy Chamber of
Commerce Board of Directors, chair of the South Valley Hospital Board of Directors, director of
the 1998 Gilroy Garlic Festival, director of the Gilroy Rotary Club, and former president of the
Leadership Gilroy Education Foundation. She continues to serve actively as a member of the Gilroy
Rotary Club and Gilroy Chamber of Commerce. She is past treasurer and vice chair of the Santa Clara
County Republican Central Committee, and in 2000 was a delegate to the National Republican Party
Convention. She graduated from Ireland, Indiana High School and attended Foothill College in Los
Altos, majoring in accounting. They live in Gilroy and have two grown daughters and four
grandchildren.
