Craig Mann is a public school teacher. Previously he worked in private industry throughout most of his career.
Craig was a member and chair of San Jose's Human Rights Commission for three years, worked as a parent volunteer, served
as a church trustee and has served on several non-profit boards. He was elected to the Santa Clara County Board of
Education in 2006 and he previously served eight years as an East Side Union High School District trustee and two years
as a Metropolitan Education District trustee. As an East Side trustee, Craig led the building of the Evergreen Valley
High School; two bond initiatives totaling about $400 million; and negotiated a model project labor agreement with the
Santa Clara and San Benito Building Construction Trades Council, which created apprenticeships, internships and a
Construction Technology Academy for East Side students. Craig earned his Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from
Alliant International University - Shirley Hufstedler School of Education; holds a B.S. in business administration
from San Jose State University; and a MBA from the University of Phoenix. Craig and his wife, Leila Welch, a school
principal, live in San Jose and have two daughters, Lenee and Brittany.
