Craig Mann is a teacher in the Ravenswood School District. Previously he worked in private industry
throughout most of his career. He serves on the Budget Study Committee, the Policy Development
Subcommittee and the Joint Legislative Advisory Committee. Craig was a member and chair of San
Jose's Human Rights Commission for three years, worked as a parent volunteer, served as a church
trustee and has served on several non-profit boards. His school board experience includes eight
years as an East Side Union High School District trustee and two years as a Metropolitan Education
District trustee. As an East Side trustee, Craig led the building of the Evergreen Valley High School;
two bond initiatives totaling about $400 million; and negotiated a model project labor agreement
with the Santa Clara and San Benito Building Construction Trades Council, which created
apprenticeships, internships and a Construction Technology Academy for East Side students.
Craig holds a B.S. in business administration from San Jose State University and a MBA from
the University of Phoenix. Craig and his wife, Leila Welch, a school administrator, live in San
Jose and have two daughters, Lenee and Brittany.
