- The Environmental Education Specialist (Naturalist) works as an integral member of the Walden
West Outdoor School staff. Responsibilities include designing lessons and teaching natural science
concepts to 5th and 6th grade students, leading and participating in evening programs such as campfire
and organizing activities that will foster the social development of attending students. The Environmental Education
Specialist must work closely with staff members and visiting teachers as well as students.
A qualified applicant will have a bachelor degree preferably in science, experience working with children
in an outdoor setting, familiarity of instructional methods and general knowledge of plants, animals, and the
environment a well as the ability to work closely with others.
- Most positions are full-time (8 hrs/day) and range from 10-12 months per
year. All regular, full-time positions offer excellent benefits and
retirement.
